A Family Journey

From Our Hacienda
to Georgia

A story of courage, tradition, and the flavors of home — brought to the heart of Georgia.

“Every dish we serve carries a piece of home — the sun, the soil, the people, and the traditions of our family’s hacienda in Mexico.”

Raquel — known to her guests and community as Kelly — was born and raised on her family’s hacienda in the highlands of central Mexico. Growing up surrounded by the rich food culture, warm family traditions, and generations of Aztec culinary heritage, she developed a deep passion for authentic Mexican cooking.

After years of hard work and unwavering dedication, Kelly made the leap that would change everything. She opened the first La Hacienda Azteca at Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia — bringing the authentic flavors, recipes, and hospitality of her family’s hacienda to a new community.

“I didn’t just open a restaurant. I brought my home to Georgia — every recipe, every spice, every memory of the hacienda.”

Aztec Heritage

The Roots That Inspired Everything

Long before Mexico had a name, the Aztec people cultivated the land with corn, chiles, beans, and cacao — ingredients that remain the soul of Mexican cooking today. It is a culinary lineage rooted in patience, skill, and deep respect for the land.

On her family’s hacienda, Kelly learned to grind fresh masa by hand, to simmer salsas from scratch, and to treat every ingredient the way her grandparents had for generations — nothing rushed, nothing shortcut.

But the hacienda was also a place of warmth, family, and extraordinary food. The flavors of birria, pozole, tortas ahogadas, and fresh corn tortillas made by hand — these are the flavors Kelly grew up with, and the flavors she carries with her every day at La Hacienda Azteca.
